We are excited to introduce our 2024 Spring Intern, Talia Nilsson!
Talia Nilsson is a dedicated senior in Intercultural Peacebuilding at BYU Hawaii and embodies a spirit of service and advocacy that has defined her since childhood. From the age of 8, she immersed herself in the world of nonprofit work, championing various socially beneficial causes with unwavering passion and determination. Whether raising funds for human trafficking awareness, supporting relief efforts for the Haiti hurricane, or assisting local families in need, Talia has consistently demonstrated her commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
At her university, Talia's leadership and expertise shine brightly. As the Training and Development Supervisor at the famous Polynesian Cultural Center, she oversaw the training of a vast team, mentoring over 100 individuals to excel in their roles. Her tenure at the David O. McKay Center for Intercultural Understanding further showcased her skills as she co-hosted an interfaith conference, designed and delivered leadership workshops, facilitated interfaith field trips, and specialized in imparting conflict management tools to young couples.
Now, in her senior year, Talia continues to embody her passion for fostering understanding and harmony as she interns with the Pono Pono Peace Initiative. In this role, she spearheads social media marketing and branding efforts, amplifying awareness of the organization's mission. She plays a pivotal role in planning and facilitating workshops and events, ensuring they resonate with participants and drive meaningful dialogue. Currently, she is orchestrating an upcoming student competition, leveraging her creativity and organizational skills and experience to inspire engagement and action.
Talia's dedication, coupled with her diverse skill set and unwavering commitment to peacebuilding, makes her an invaluable asset to any team. Her tireless efforts and boundless compassion continue to shape a brighter, more harmonious future for communities near and far.
